Another option is to peel fresh ginger, sprinkle some salt on it, and then chew it to get all the juices. MILK Drinking hot milk with honey also helps with coughing. It helps soothe the throat and ensures that you get a good night’s sleep when it is taken at bedtime.
FOR A WET COUGH
BLACK PEPPERBlack pepper, when taken with honey, will help alleviate a wet cough. This will help loosen the mucus for easier expectoration. Add one teaspoon of honey to a pinch of ground pepper and use roughly two or three times a day. SALT Gargling with warm salty water will help you clear phlegm in the throat. Gargle as many times as possible in a day for relief from coughing. GARLIC Garlic makes a good herbal remedy for a cough. You can make syrup by finely chopping the garlic into a paste, placing this in a jar and filling the jar with honey until the garlic is completely covered. Place the jar in the refrigerator for two weeks and use a tablespoon in the morning or whenever you feel a cough coming on. The honey will provide lubrication to help soothe the throat. You can also drink garlic tea to help relieve coughs.
