Old Home Remedies - Keeping the Tradition Alive
Old home remedies are close to a lot of people’s hearts. Aside from bringing back a lot of fond memories, these remedies are also said to be effective by those who have experienced them first-hand. Old home remedies are those that have been handed over from generation to generation and have been tried and tested by different families. Home remedies may not be as popular as conventional medicine but a lot of people prefer these over prescription medications due to their lack of chemicals which can be dangerous for the health. The use of these natural haling remedies also keeps the memories, traditions, and beliefs of one’s ancestors alive. An old home remedy usually makes use of natural ingredients like herbs, plants, and fruits. These remedies are considered safer than prescription drugs because they are natural and prepared fresh. Its use is continuously gaining popularity as more people become more aware of the risks associated with commercially prepared drugs. In the past, people only depended on plants for food, shelter, clothing, and medicine. They became very knowledgeable about their environment and discovered which plants were best for specific conditions. This practice has been passed on through different generations, with some adjustments to how these remedies were prepared. For example, instead of chewing the leaves or the bark, a tea was made from these ingredients to be taken for a certain ailment. Even though the way the remedies were prepared changed, the principle behind these remedies and the ingredients used are still the same. Home remedies have been tried and tested through time to make the different remedies easy to make and easy to take but still very much effective. Some of the different remedies you may be familiar with or have heard about are headache cures, cold remedies, or maybe a home remedy for acne (everyone’s grandmother has one of these). Here are some of the different home remedies that have been in use for a long time. - COLDS
The common colds is one illness that is usually treated with home remedies. Here are some home remedies for treating colds. Spices such as pepper and garlic also helps thin the mucus, making it effective in relieving congestion and difficulty in breathing.
