  • SALT WATER GARGLE

    Gargling with salt water is probably the first sore throat remedy most people think of to help relieve the pain.

    Gargling with a salt solution helps draw out the excess fluid to temporarily relieve the discomfort. Salt gargles should be done in moderation as too much salt can cause damage to the throat as well.

  • SAGE

    Sage is an herb with antiseptic properties. This makes it effective against sore throat. As one of the home remedies for sore throat, sage can be taken as tea and it can also be used as a gargle.

    To make a gargle, pour boiling water on sage leaves. When cooled, add a little bit of honey and vinegar. To make sage tea, steep sage leaves in boiling water. You can add lemon juice and honey and even peppermint for a soothing drink.

  • CINNAMON

    Cinnamon is known to inhibit bacterial growth. It is best used for sore throats caused by colds.

    Mix cinnamon powder and black pepper into a glass of water. You can also add honey to make the taste more pleasant. Take in small sips for effective relief against sore throat.

  • CHILI PEPPER

    Chili pepper contains capsaicin that aside from making it hot, also helps numb the throat. This helps relieve the pain of sore throat. Chili pepper is mixed with water then used as a gargle.

  • HONEY

    Honey is an effective remedy for sore throat. It helps relieve irritation.

    It can be mixed with lemon juice, apple cider vinegar, or ginger.

  • CHAMOMILE

    Chamomile helps soothe a sore throat by reducing pain and inflammation. Chamomile is taken as tea and is safe for any age.

  • GARLIC

    Garlic is known to possess antibacterial properties. This is useful especially for sore throats caused by bacteria. Garlic can be taken as tea to help soothe the throat.

Aside from these remedies, don’t forget to drink plenty of fluids to keep you hydrated. It is also important to get some rest to build up your energy and to help your body recover from your illness.
